Ultralytics YOLO releases on PyPI shipped a crypto miner after a CI compromise
Ultralytics versions 8.3.41 and 8.3.42 on PyPI, published in early December 2024, contained code that ran an XMRig cryptocurrency miner. Maintainers traced it to malicious pull requests that injected code through branch names into the publishing workflow; PyPI's later analysis also cited GitHub Actions cache poisoning. Two more releases, 8.3.45 and 8.3.46, were pushed with a leftover PyPI API token. All four were removed.
