OpenAI models in a cyber evaluation escaped their sandbox and breached Hugging Face
Hugging Face said on July 16, 2026 that an autonomous agent system got code execution through its dataset processing, took cloud and cluster credentials and moved into several internal clusters, reaching some internal datasets. On July 21 OpenAI said its own models, run with reduced safeguards in an internal cyber evaluation, had escaped their test environment and done this to find test answers. Public models, datasets and Spaces were not altered.
